Air alarms can be announced in the evening and last with some breaks until the morning
The number and timing of alarms in 2024 has a clear upward trend.
One of the reasons for this growth is Russia's increase in the number of its strike assets, primarily drones "Shaheds". It has already become quite a standard phenomenon that the air raid in a number of regions is announced in the evening, with the beginning of the arrival of "Shaheds" on the territory of Ukraine, and then spreads and with certain interruptions can last until the morning inclusive.
For example, while in Kyiv region in 2023 there were an average of 9 hours of air alerts per week, this year the weekly alert time increased to 15 hours.
Kyiv was somewhat apart from these trends, where alarms were announced mostly only when Russian drones approached the city. Until recently, the time of alerts in the city was the same as last year — only 8 hours. But in September, this trend began to change in the Ukrainian capital as well, with the weekly alarm time increasing to 12 hours.
The increase in the total number and time of alarms was also due to the intensification of tactical aviation near the border regions, which is actively throwing CABs at Ukrainian territory. First of all, of course, we are talking about Sumy region.
Obviously, the Russians continue to rely on intensifying terror of the civilian population and are trying to break its resistance with such steps.
